Dining out

There are many good restaurants in Kristiansand. We have absolutely not tried them all! So it is perhaps a bit unfair to recommend some and not mention others, but here are a few that we think are good.
You do need to book a table, but unfortunately their web pages are only in Norwegian (except Boen gård). A good idea might be to check them out during the day, and then book a table if you like them.

  • Pieder Ro at Fiskebrygga. This is our own favourite. It is a nice restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. You will probably not find it particularly cheap, but most people will think that it is worth it.
  • There are also other good restaurants around Fiskebrygga and Strandpromenaden («The seafront promenade») that you can check out.
  • Smag og behag. This is another favourite. It is located in an old gym which makes it something special. Prices are about the same level as Pieder Ro, perhaps even a bit more.
  • Bønder i byen This restaurant is right on the town square, so if you park in the «Torvet parkering» you are right there. Prices are slightly below Pieder Ro, but not much.
  • Boen gård If you want to step up to Michelin level, you might want to visit Boen gård. It is located in the countryside east of Kristiansand, not far from the airport. In addition to evening menus, they also serve afternoon tea.
